Cherryland Students Work Together to Grow a Healthy Garden
On a March afternoon, 35 first through fifth grade students prepared their school garden for an early spring planting. They all clamored around their nutrition and garden teacher to participate in planting vegetables: lettuces, carrots, cabbage, broccoli, chard, onions, leeks, radishes and more.
There was weeding to be done first as well as watering. Their enthusiasm and team work was phenomenal. Every task was done together to the very end, even putting away the hose.
It’s amazing what a community of children, who care about growing a healthy garden, can do.
