Interns Serve Tastings for the Community

During the summer our interns were busy doing community outreach as well as nutrition outreach in the community.  Part of the community outreach was to reach out to 10 families in the community for a chance to receive a free weekly CSA box which included fruits and vegetables harvested from the Tennyson farm.  Every Thursday the families would come by and pick up their CSA box and the interns would also be offering a tasting of a delicious healthy recipe.  The recipe of the day would usually be a vegetable or two from the CSA box, so that the families would get an idea on how to prepare a recipe using the CSA goodies.  On this day the interns decided to prepare Super Greens pasta which included kale, chard and garlic from the farm.   Along with a tasting, the families would also get nutrition information about each recipe.   A lot of hard work was happening behind the scenes before every Thursday, but at the end of the day it was always very rewarding for everyone, and the families enjoyed tasting the recipes every week.
