Rethink Your Drink at Cherryland Elementary
What a refreshing way to end the day!
Our fifth-grade class enjoyed beverages made with the lovely 3 gallon, BPA free, reusable, water dispensing container gifted from Project Eat.
In order to protect the environment, we planned ahead and brought our own reusable water bottles to class.
I sliced the oranges and filled the bottle with cool water approximately an hour before serving. It was so easy! The students were delighted to see the oranges floating in the water. Many wanted seconds and thirds and there was plenty to go around!
After school I had some lingering students who wanted to talk to me more about the water.
One student asked,
"What's in it?"
"What do you see?"
"Is it really only oranges and water?"
She was clearly amazed that something so simple could taste so good!
We brainstormed some other great items to stick into the water: cucumbers, strawberries, peaches, lemons, limes, rosemary, lavender, mint and.... banana?
"Well, maybe just the peel," I added.
We had something to celebrate too! It was the end of the fifth grade California Standards Science Test!!! We enjoyed our refreshing beverage while watching our favorite Bill Nye The Science Guy videos.
What a healthy celebration, there were smiles all around!
Thank you Project EAT!!!!
