Urban School Garden Program
The Urban School Garden Program was created in partnership with the University of California Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources Cooperative Extension with funding from Kaiser Permanente.
The documents will lead you through all the steps you need to take to build and plant a school garden. The process begins with gaining support from the school administration, teachers, staff, parents, and community members to create a vision for what the garden will look like and how it will be used. The next step involves working as a team to design the garden space, gather needed materials, and plan a workday. Everything you need to know, from building raised beds, mulching, and crop planning are included below.
We wish you success in your school garden project!
